Erbs Palsy

Erbs palsy is a condition in which the nerves in a baby’s arms and shoulder are damaged during the delivery process, resulting in paralysis or limited use of the hands, fingers, arms, shoulders, and elbows. Sometimes the baby’s shoulder gets stuck behind the mother’s pelvic bone or cervix during the delivery process. When this occurs, excessive force or pressure is placed on the baby’s head, shoulders, or neck. This pressure increases the baby’s chance of tearing, bruising, or breaking his/her neck, shoulder, or head.

Depending on the severity of the case, some children with Erbs palsy experience very mild symptoms with sings of continuous improvement, whereas as other children have much more severe symptoms and make little to no progress.
